Lab Introduction

Dr. Hui-Wen Chen is currently a Professor at the Department of Veterinary Medicine in National Taiwan University. Her research interest lies in the virology, immunology, and epidemiology of infectious diseases, and the recent research projects include: 1) Developing vaccines adopting the virus-like features 2) Discovering effective antiviral therapeutics, particularly novel strategies that target host factors to combat drug resistance. 3) Establishing platforms for human and animal viral pathogen identification and investigation on the virus-host interaction. Dr. Chen has published up to 50 peer-reviewed papers in internationally-recognized journals in the field of poultry diseases, virology, and multidisciplinary biomaterials. In addition to research, Dr. Chen serves as an officially accredited veterinarian in Taiwan, providing clinical diagnosis service for the veterinary teaching hospital and poultry industrial partners. Currently, Dr. Chen leads a thriving laboratory with postdoctoral researchers and graduate students, focused in taking fundamental research findings to commercialized products. Several of these products have had patents and demonstrate potential in improving the poultry health and increasing agricultural welfare.
