Lab Introduction
The lab of “Human Genetics and Psychiatric Epidemiology” aims to develop and apply different genetic analytic methods and bioinformatics approaches to a series of psychiatric disorders and human complex traits, in order to explore the potential effects of relevant psychosocial and environmental factors, functional pathways, and different etiological/pathological mechanisms, including genome-wide associations, gene expression, post-transcriptional regulation, gut-brain axis, and metabolomic mechanisms. We’re also interested in investigating the heritability of the traits and studying interactions between environmental exposures and genomic factors. Furthermore, for most of the complex traits, high heterogeneity in phenotypes is often observed. We attempt to conduct advanced statistical analyses with the aid of comprehensive clinical and digital phenotype data collection to identify more homogenous phenotypic subgroups, which is beneficial for employing the following genomic analyses and can further enhance our ability for results interpretation and application for relevant health events.
