Lab Introduction

The Digital Law Research Center was established to address the impact of digitalization on legal norms in emerging technology areas. The Center integrates researchers from various fields to focus on specific issues and facilitate mutual dialogue. It has established two research groups: the "Research Group of Law, Finance & Technology" and the "Research Group of Digitalized Legal Data and Computational Law".

The former group focuses on taxation of the digital economy, regulation of the use of digital tools by the state, supervision of decentralized finance and smart contracts by the state, and regulation of crimes related to digital assets. The latter group focuses on analyzing court decisions, the legal nature of smart contracts, and proposals for their content using information science tools.

The Center uses big data and quantitative empirical methods to study legal issues and guides students to participate in international competitions in the field of legal informatics. The goals of the Center are to provide legal interpretations or legislative proposals, especially for state supervision of online platforms and digital finance, and to cultivate a new generation of legal professionals who can utilize information technology to conduct legal research. The Center aims to promote the diversification of legal research methods in response to the characteristics of digitized legal data.
