Lab Introduction

The Taiwan Collaborative Intensive Care and Pulmonary Disease Study Group (TACTICS) was initiated by Dr. Jung-Yien Chien, Dr. Kuei-Pin Chung, and Dr. Sheng-Yuan Ruan from the Division of Pulmonary Medicine, National Taiwan University Hospital. The group was established as a nationwide, multi-center collaborative network focusing on both basic and clinical research in critical care and pulmonary diseases. The core research areas of TACTICS include mitochondrial metabolic mechanisms and therapeutic strategies in sepsis; prediction and treatment strategies for Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia; acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS); ventilator weaning strategies; development of novel diagnostic technologies; and basic research using multi-omics epithelial cell models. Beyond facilitating rapid clinical diagnosis and optimizing treatment strategies, TACTICS aims to advance translational medicine by elucidating disease pathophysiology. To date, the consortium has produced multiple studies with significant international impact, published in high-impact journals such as Nature Communications, CHEST, and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (AJRCCM).
