Lab Introduction
Dr. Chih-Wei Chang's Nanophysics Laboratory focuses on developing measurement techniques for nanoscale thermal transport, advancing thermal microscopy and energy spectroscopy. Past research projects include:
- Discovery of unusual thermal transport phenomena in nanomaterials: ballistic thermal conduction, anomalous thermal transport in one-dimensional materials, interfacial thermal resistance, thermal switching, and thermal rectification.
- Thermal microscopy (ZEM): quantifying the effective atomic number (Z) of samples through direct thermal measurement in electron microscopes, and resolving the spatial distribution of light elements at the nanoscale.
- Developing nanoscale spectroscopy using thermal absorption and thermal modulation measurements.
